Paving the way for low carbon and circular construction

The City of Lund’s first reuse inventory, carried out during the demolition of a school in 2020, marked the beginning of a more circular approach to construction. With limited time, staff and external stakeholders worked together to identify and repurpose materials ranging from bricks to ventilation systems. The pilot sparked a transformation in municipal procedures, leading to standardised reuse inventories, new procurement criteria, and climate requirements that encourage the use of reclaimed materials.
