When faced with the demolition of an old school, the City of Lund turned a controversial project into an opportunity to experiment with circular building practices. By carrying out its first reuse inventory, the municipality shifted focus from demolition to resource recovery, viewing materials not as waste but as valuable assets. The initiative built internal knowledge, inspired changes in procurement processes, and demonstrated that climate-neutral construction begins with rethinking what already exists.
